“Bishop native and former beauty pageanteer Victoria Garza, 26, traded in her tiara for a chance to compete on the reality television show “The Mole,” which aired its first episode Monday night on ABC.
Garza and her family are crazy about the competition based on exposing a saboteur secretly working against the others, her father Joe Garza said.
Like Papa Garza, a former nurse, his daughter thrives on stress. One thing she’s not crazy about? Heights.”

“ABC’s “The Mole†had an inauspicious return after a four-year absence last night, finishing third in its timeslot and losing a good deal of its “Bachelorette†lead-in.
“Mole†averaged a 1.9 adults 18-49 rating at 10 p.m., according to Nielsen overnights, well behind timeslot leader NBC’s 2.9 for game five of the Stanley Cup finals. It was also behind a 2.6 for a repeat of “CSI: Miami†on CBS.
The series, making its first appearance since a celebrity edition in 2004, also lost 21 percent of “Bachelorette’s†2.4 lead-in at 9 p.m., dropping ABC well behind the leaders on an otherwise fairly competitive evening.
“Mole” was ABC’s second attempt at reviving a long-dormant reality series this summer. “Bachelorette” has also put up middling numbers in its return. ”

“Folks, Scott Stone and Clay Newbill, producers of the Mole, are coming out with a campaign to keep the mole from being executed…by ABC. The web site will be (later today or tomorrow) www.savethemole.com. I will be posting their letter to the viewers on this web site. In addition, I’ve gladly made some videos for them to post on their web site to push the effort to keep the Mole alive past this season.
They need your help!

Clay Cauley (Philadelphia, PA) became the eighth player to leave “The Mole” during last night’s episode. The eighth episode airs MONDAY, JULY 28 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. Jon Kelley (”Extra,” “The National Sports Report,” “Baseball Today”) is host.
In the new hour, “Episode 508,” the players can’t believe their eyes when their entire world turns upside down. With only two executions left, guns blaze in Buenos Aires as the final four take aim at the game’s final exemption — and each other.
The four players remaining on “The Mole” are:
Craig (San Diego, CA)
Mark (Mukwonago, WI)
Nicole (Chicago, IL)
Paul (Yonkers, NY)
“The Mole” is produced by Stone & Company Entertainment. In the final dramatic episode, the “Mole” will be revealed and one of two final players can win up to $500,000.

“A four-year hiatus has been kind to “The Mole,” a reality-elimination game with a complicated twist: One of the 12 participants is assigned to scheme against the collective effort to win money, with players booted each week based on their ability to identify the plant. Interactive component and cloak-and-dagger shenanigans can become more than a bit silly, but a mix of intoxicating South American scenery, clever challenges and a slightly more cerebral approach should establish this as a breezy summer fill-in. The series represents an amusing footnote to Anderson Cooper’s journalistic career (he was the original host), with “Extra’s” Jon Kelley comfortably presiding over the espionage this time around.”

“After a four-year absence, The Mole returns to ABC Monday night (10 pm/ET) where contestants complete a grueling series of physical and mental missions. This is ultimate teamwork: the missions have to be completed together in order to build up cash amounts that are eventually won by the winner.
But beware the Mole — a saboteur and one of the 20 contestants whose mission it is to prevent the group from winning the cash. All the while, the players try to figure out which one of them is the Mole through a series of quizzes.”
…
“Also, this year, the show has a very strong online presence allowing viewers to play along as if they were on the show. “People can take the same quiz online as the contestants on the show,” says Kelley. “Plus, there will be three or four clues on the web site pointing them to the identity of the Mole.”"

“If you’re looking for insight on The Mole’s identity for the show’s upcoming revival, new host Jon Kelley is a good place to start.
“I got to know these players on a different level and know their psychology and also observe their game play,” Jon told Reality TV World in a Wednesday interview. “Most of these players came in as fans of the show, so they’ve seen it and knew it. They had different ways to approach it. These were pretty smart players understanding the nuances of this game. So I got to get up close and personal, know them.”
The Mole’s fifth season — the show’s first non-celebrity edition in six years — will premiere Monday, June 2 at 10PM ET/PT on ABC, with the 12 contestants competing in new missions at new locations while trying to determine who among them is The Mole — a saboteur trying to keep them from winning money in the game.
The following are Jon’s comments on each of The Mole’s 12 fifth-season contestants.”
